This year at Mechanicsburg High School, homecoming was a success. Starting off the weekend with a football game and then the dance, there was something for everyone.

With the theme of the classic 90’s TV show, Friends, for the dance, it was hard to not enjoy it.

On top of the music and the decorations, our very own homecoming king and queen were crowned. Megan Collins was named homecoming queen Friday night at the football game against Cedar Cliff. Then on Saturday night, during the dance, Max Hahn was named homecoming king.

Leading into the dance, the hallways were decorated to look like the apartment building in Friends. Student Council also made sure there was a snack bar set up like Friends’s very own Central Perk.

There was even a surprise appearance of the show’s theme song “I’ll Be There for You” in the music lineup.

Let’s hear the opinions of those in attendance!

  • “I think it was fun! I would love music that more people knew. Great theme.”
  • “Other than it being too hot and the music not being wisely picked, it wasn’t bad at all.”
  • “Homecoming was so much fun this year!”
  • “Much better than previous years.”
  • “Loved the theme and decorations.”
  • “I liked that there wasn’t a lot of structure, and we could just hang out the whole time.”

Overall, it seems like this year’s homecoming was a hit at Mechanicsburg!
